I know it isn’t always easy, but you have to keep going. I have been finding ways to understand and help people nurture and utilise their gifts and make it work for them effectively. Recently, I have been asked the question of “what do you do when you are unemployed” or “how did you spend your time not working”. My answer was: “it is in you to create the job rather than find the job”. I’ll explain further:
A lot of us, if not all, tend to make job searching a priority, because it must be the quickest way to make money right? _________ <—- I’ll allow you to fill in the blank 🙂
What if you are constantly applying but not getting any responses? They all seem to be rejection, sighs and frustrations. I secured my first full-time job after a good three years from graduating. Was it easy to wait? No. Was it worth the wait? Yes! During my time of not working, (although I must humbly admit, I was only working between 8-15 hours a week in retail part time, so still wasn’t as easy at it looked). I used my unemployment season to create a YouTube channel, made my first wig, socialised and collaborated with different people, and more importantly worked on myself by publishing my first book.
You see, this life will either make you do two things:
1) STAY STILL AND DO NOTHING OR;
2) KEEP GOING
The choice is down to you. There is no excuse to be lazy, dormant, or waiting for the ‘right opportunity’. YOU ARE ALREADY THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY! You must position your mind to believe this, or you will be waiting a very long time. No one has the same fingerprint or DNA as you. Looking at how others are coping with life will not change yours. You have to keep up the pace and move. Don’t stay stagnant, even when rejection comes! Use that rejection to create an opportunity.
God has put so much in you that if you aren’t willing to identify it, you will forfeit the process and miss the blessing. Had it not been for the constant rejections of my past when trying to secure a job, I would not have been able to write my first book in 2016. Now I have written three books, created an online course for aspiring authors, built Authentic Worth, and conducting events and workshops.
Even when the support isn’t there, which usually happens at the beginning stages, you will realise gradually that through the amount of time and effort put into working on your craft, someone will help you with the journey, as long as you don’t give up! Remember this, because there are people who are inspired by you, without realising it! Don’t give up!
