Our relationship with PATIENCE – we all need it!

What is patience to you? How do you see patience working effectively in your life right now?

When you hear the word ‘patience’, what comes to mind? Do you know that patience helps you to become more structured, not allowing the waves and tosses of life to get your way? I have been deeply encouraged, challenged and stretched in my relationship with patience. A key attribute that we will appreciate when difficult moments appear.

Have you been in a season in your life where you’ve been tested by someone else’s impatience, that’s caused you to make decisions in haste due to pressure? It feels uncomfortable when you know the choice that’s been made will cost you in the long run. Trying to short cut every moment in your life won’t give you the ultimate victory. It takes gradual grace and the right steps that are ordered by the Lord to get you to the next level – a level that you are able to handle.

If you aren’t disciplined in your relationship with patience, how can you handle major issues that are beyond your control? Do you use your feelings and emotions as a defence to hide from your problems? Are you going to allow the pressures of society to cause you to lose your worth and identity for the sake of temporary attention? We ought to build on our relationship with patience.

When you make a decision to choose a great life, you are agreeing with going on another level; which means the greater the opportunity, the greater the responsibilities that are involved. It is not wise to force life to be what you want it to be, if you aren’t taking the practical steps to work on your own patience threshold. There will be times in our lives where we want more; this not not wrong. Of course, we desire more in life; more money, more joy, more peace, good health, a great work/life balance, healthy friendships and relationships etc, however, they all require a healthy level of patience.

We should not expect everything we desire to have to come in a way that is quick, without being disciplined in the ‘waiting season.’ The waiting season is the most beautiful place to be, and I am aware that quite a few people may find it difficult. Yes, you can admit that you’ve waited for five years for your breakthrough to occur, but those five years have surely built up your character. It has helped you to become who you are today. Those silent moments of worry and fear caused you to become more fruitful – to help others around you which in turn, has added value into their lives and well-being. This is one of the greatest contributing factors to a life of joy, peace and fulfilment – to serve others whilst we are in the season of waiting.

Endeavour to work on your relationship with patience; do not neglect the work that patience is doing within you and through you. You will know when you’re blossoming by the way you react and respond to situations beyond your control. Respond in patience and reap a fruitful life. Don’t make decisions in haste. Breathe. Pause. Pray and Believe! Patience is working for your good.

“Let perseverance (patience) finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:4.

Can you imagine how quick 2019 has been so far?! We are literally in the middle of November! How has your 2019 been overall? I’d like to know in the comments section below.

Remember that it is not over yet! There is so much more to expect and be in high hopes for!

Throughout this year, I have been tested in terms of my Faith, being encouraged to know that all things are working out for my good even when it doesn’t seem like it is. Our heart’s desires and blessings are already ours; it is time for us to see the physical manifestation.

Please, I urge you to not give up; it doesn’t matter what you are going through. God still changes lives and He does it very well! I am a living witness to this. You are nearly on the verge of your breakthrough, no matter what is holding you back; give it your all.

The dreams, aspirations and goals you aim to achieve can be done before we approach 2020. It is not too late. As long as you have life, you have opportunities. Everyday you have is a blessing; not a lot of people around the world have seen a day like this, but you and I have. It is very important we remember this and not take anything in our lives for granted.

You are more than where you are right now, so do not worry about what you don’t currently have, because it will surely reach you when you least expect it. Remember, you are nearly there! You may have to push a bit more, cry it out, take time off social media to cleanse your mind, soul and spirit. More importantly, you are becoming stronger, better, wiser and patient.

What is yours is yours, and it will surely come in unexpected places. You are loved and going From Glory to Glory.

To my darling sister Glory: Your name means Heaven which is where you are right now. I hope you will inspired in reading my latest new book From Glory to Glory published in May 2019 on behalf of my late sister.

Remember, you are closer than you think!

Unanswered Prayer is God’s Gift

Have you ever asked the question, why doesn’t prayer work? Why at times does it appear that God ignores us when we pray to Him. Many have prayed for God to intervene and solve a problem that they are struggling with, but sometimes God‘s apparent answer is silence. If God answers your prayers He is increasing your Faith, if He doesn’t He is training your patience.

When you hit a certain level of prayers over the same situation and not seeing a change, it will eventually make you step back and ask yourself if it’s going to happen. There are other people who apply for a particular job in their field but don’t receive an update on their application. Sometimes, these unanswered questions are a blessing in disguise. Imagine asking for something that you thought would benefit you, but behind closed doors, it was not the right thing for you.

“Even sweet things can kill” (African Proverb).

When you take sweets off a child that has eaten 5 packets, they cry, but the child does not know that the mother is protecting their teeth and health. Sometimes, we want all the nice things, but behind it, we don’t know the depth of consequence it will provide. Look back over your life today, and ask yourself what sort of expectations you planned to achieve, and write the ones you received and the ones you didn’t. Compare them and see which expectations were met the most. 2016 has been such a blessing; there are things I did not even put effort in that I received, and this is not to say I am perfect, because I am not. It’s just that my Faith at the time was being tested and had to show God that I really trusted Him to see me through, and He really did show up.

What are you asking for today? A new job? A business opportunity? A new level of Peace? A long-term relationship? To maintain family unity? To be a missionary? These are great blessings, but what do you do when you do not see it come to fruition? Do you give up? Do you throw in the towel? Yes, I know how it feels, do not misunderstand me, but have you come to realise that God could be testing your motives behind it all What about your patience? How do you handle rejection when you have failed continuously? In other words, why not make rejection teach you a lesson to aim higher and divert your original plans to something more effective? The rejection you receive today should not be repeated tomorrow if you really want to see a change in your life. You would make an intentional decision to renew your mind, reflect and ponder on what you want to do.

So this is the structure that I usually take and would like to share it with you:

  • PLAN – What decisions have you made today in planning a better tomorrow?
  • PACE – How quick are you determined to meet your plans to make it come to reality?
  • POSITION – Your mindset and character should be positioned in a positive mode where you are able to see yourself at where you desire to be.

When you plan your goals whether personal or professional, you are more likely to run with the vision and set yourself in a high league where you can attain them. But, if the goals do not come to pass, you plan something else, and see if that works, (maybe trial and error). I would rather work hard and fail to know that I tried to attempt something than to think about the vision and not do anything about it, because at least I can say I’ve learnt from my mistakes. It is not enough to say you are you’re striving to achieve anything because you remember the times you’ve failed. That is not breaking out of your comfort zone, and at times this could be one of the reasons why our goals are not being met. We are far too comfortable with what we have, that we build our bed there and stay because we are afraid to branch out of our comfort.

Apply this in your workplace today; some employees do not feel motivated enough to go to work, some go to make money and pay bills, others go to develop their career and others for promotion. Regardless of your motive, how do you handle the workload in your position? If you want that promotion in your job, how do you handle people also? Are you not aware that people are watching you knowingly and unknowingly? It would feel unfair for someone who started off as an Entry Level Marketing Analyst and promoted to a Senior Marketing Analyst in 6 months, whilst someone who has been in the company for 3 years+ is still in the same position of an Entry Level Marketing Analyst. What do you think the person who was promoted to a senior role did with their time? I would assume self-encouragement and motivation, persistence and hard work that initiated the promotion.

We want the promotion, the title, the name, but are not willing to put in the effort. The way I see it, what you put in is what you will get out. It is a waste of time envying someone else’s progress. All the energy you used to do this could have been used to invest in yourself and become better, but instead, you chose to allow your feelings to control you and make you bitter.  So when you see your goals not being met, know that it is God working on your patience, your heart, and your attitude towards rejection. How you handle someone else’s success will determine how your own success will look like. If you are not happy for people when they are going up, don’t expect others to be happy for you.

In other words, if you are not willing to put in the effort now to work towards your goals, don’t assume that God will just drop everything your way and allow Him to pick up the pieces. He wants to see your input and effort to use that as proof that you are trusting Him. God’s Word tell us that working hard, but with faith in mind, can lead to great things he has planned for us. So imagine all the blessings He has lined up for us if we work hard. But please be reminded that in as much effort that you put into something, the result won’t always be what you expected. I am speaking from experience because I know of a time where I studied, researched, and spent hours on one application just to receive an email after 4 weeks saying ‘Unfortunately, we cannot take you on’. You wouldn’t believe the effort I put in, relative to an application I made a while back and received good feedback within 5 weeks.

Regardless of how the process takes, work at it with all your heart knowing and believing that something good will come your way. If you really think about it, when our prayers are met, we are very ecstatic, but how about being more determined when our prayers aren’t met. How do you handle that? When I was in a season of not working, I honestly did not see anything exciting in that, but instead of me wallowing in self-pity, I chose to make the most with my time and write a book: ‘It’s Time to Heal’ on Amazon and create a YouTube channel: ‘Esther N J’.

In our times of silence and uncertainty, that is the opportunity for us to use our free time wisely. This is not to sulk or become hard-hearted. It is a time where we must understand that what we already have, we can manage it and turn it around for our good. I used the money I saved to buy a car to invest in my book and my Canon camera whilst I was not working. I chose to do something useful with my time because as the saying goes ‘nobody knows tomorrow’.

I’ll give you four reasons as to why our prayers aren’t always answered:

  1. Gods time is not our time.
  2. Unrepentant sin is hardening our relationship with the Lord (Psalm 19:12).
  3. We are not asking in Faith (James 1:6-8).
  4. Our prayers may not be according to the Lords Will.

God has a plan for us because we are so special in His eyes. What we are asking the Lord to do may not be in accordance with His plan or purpose. If that is the case, He is not going to do what we ask; scriptures related to this can be found in 1 John 5:14-15, Matthew 6:10 and John 15:7. When your goals aren’t being met, see it as a blessing because God won’t give you anything you cannot handle. What you could be asking for could be heavier than what you expect. Don’t take what you ask for lightly. Understand why you want what you desire, not just for publicity and status.

He will always give your needs, not your want. God’s timetable is not the same as ours. He knows better than we do and when is the best time for our prayers to be answered. (Hebrews 6 :13-15). God is eternal and does not measure time as we do. 2 Peter 3:8: “Beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Ultimately, if we have faith and sincerely trust God, we will not be concerned as to whether the answer is “YES”, “NO” or “WAIT.” We must trust, wait to see if God in His timing will see fit to answer as we have requested, or perhaps He has something better in mind for us, I guarantee it! 🙂 There is beauty in unanswered prayers.

“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding (6) in all your ways know and acknowledge and recognise Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]”.

Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP).

You Are In Your Season!

Hello everyone. Happy new month to you all! Wow it seems this year is really flying by fast! I just want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that has supported this blog; your prayers, your responses, your shares and likes, it is highly appreciated! May God richly bless you all!

Today, I want to talk to you about seasons. Seasons vary for different people. Some seasons come quicker than others. But be encouraged because what is for you will come at the appointed time. I recall a time in my life where I was very anxious about my job search. I felt very concerned and sometimes blamed myself for not trying ‘harder’. It seemed as if the more I tried, the more I felt rejected and to some extent tired. I felt like I had the ‘giving up spirit’. It wasn’t pretty I tell you!

In Leviticus 26:3-4 it says this “If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, (4) then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit”. For every season, it requires WORK! Not just physical work, but Spiritual work also. Spiritual work consists of praying, studying the Word, being still in His presence. It’s about laying every concern aside and just having quality time with God. To interpret this scripture, when the timing and season is right, God will give you the seeds to plant.

At times, we can be so eager for a blessing without mastering the essence of patience. I recently listened to this beautiful woman of God called Chanel Boateng (YouTube her she is amazing!). She gave an example of when you want to grow a plant, you have to cover the seed with the soil. Next step is the water; the water is the food that is needed for the plant to grow. It is the same as the body; it needs food to grow. Once water is put in the soil, eventually something will start to germinate. But the challenging thing here is that no one can see the plant growing. Even if you decide to wait for the plant to grow, you will wait for quite a while.

This is an example of the way in which God works according to seasons. When we are in our season, we sometimes don’t realise the way God works because we are too busy trying to figure a way to come out of our situation. The situation you are in right now is YOUR SEASON! Don’t run away from it. Confront it, and use it as an opportunity to walk with God. Most of us now is on the verge of running, not knowing that in order to be an effective runner, you have to master the patience of walking. Yes you would say that walking takes a long time, but I would rather do something slow and get half of it right, than rush the process and get all of it wrong.

We must also be encouraged that in all seasons, you will surely reap! Yes someone may have hurt you and it may be hard for you to forgive; or maybe you have recently got married and so much problems are happening in your union; there are so many reasons why things happen to us, but I am here to tell you that the difficulties cannot be compared to the Glory that is before you! The suffering may endure for a while, but remember there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. People will change, circumstances will change, friends will leave you, loved ones will betray you, but all in all, remember that it won’t last forever!

When you are in your season, you have to REDEEM YOUR TIME…Do not live carelessly. I remember always procrastinating about my work. “Oh I’ll do it tomorrow, I will have time then”…Wow the devil is a liar! The amount of times I have said to myself I will do my work the next day, and I did not make one attempt (straight face)…It is so annoying! Lol! Time is so precious! We all must acknowledge the time that is before us, and use it to the best of our ability. What can we use our time for? Well I am glad you asked! We can use our time to pray for our relationship with God, we can use our time to better ourselves in our education, we can use our time to help a friend who is struggling with serious drinking problems. Moreover, we could use our time to ourselves, to better ourselves, to learn more about ourselves and in turn LOVE OURSELVES!

Seasons are done in steps. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord (Psalms 37:23). Every step you encounter is God revealing something to you! I remember recently a really dear friend of mine spoke to me regarding a movie, and she asked for my opinion. I told her that I was not too keen on it, from what I heard about it, it involved certain things that I did not find amusing. Bare in mind I have not spoken to this lady for quite a while now. She said that she had a dream about me. When she told me the dream, my eyes sparkled!! I was not expecting her to tell me this! It really made my day, and I was so excited to go to work! Since then, I cannot thank God enough for the POWER OF DREAMS! It revealed to me that I am coming into my season of what I prayed for!! And God revealed the answer through my friend!

To all my beautiful queens out there, remind yourself that whatever season you’re in, know that you are coming out of it! Some are there to help you grow, some are there to humble you, some are there to remind you of where you are going. Do not feel the need to imitate someone else, because you have viewed their progress with your natural eyes; rather see it as an opportunity to humble yourself and ask God for His strength to endure the process. Yes the process may take a while, but when the outcome arises, you will truly understand why it is important to master the essence of patience in your seasons. Remember that God is so close to you! He has not gone anywhere! Remember that where you are is not a mistake; it is preparing you for where you need to be in the near future. Your latter days will be GREATER than your former days! So don’t look back! Its forwards EVER, backwards NEVER!

Ladies thank you very much for reading the posts, they are here to encourage, motivate and uplift us all! If there is anything you would like me to discuss further, kindly write your message below and I will surely get back to you! God richly bless you all!
