What is Humility? – Humility is a quality of being courteously respectful of others. It is the opposite of aggressiveness, arrogance, boastfulness, and vanity. Rather than “Me first” humility allows us to say “No, you first my friend”. Humility is the quality that lets us go more than halfway to meet the needs and demands of others .
1 Peter 5 v 6: “Therefore humble yourselves, [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you”.
James 4 v 10:”Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant]”.
Humility is such an attractive trait in an individual. More beautiful that outer beauty! If we continue to portray humility in our lives, we will surely see the blessings of God! God does not like a proud of boastful heart! When He blesses us with gifts, abilities and materialistic things, He wants us to use it for His Glory, not to show off or underestimate one another. We must remember that the world belongs to God. This is not our home!
Let us always remember to be humble when we speak, when we greet, when we encourage, because people do not remember the gifts you buy them, they remember your ‘words’…let your words be based on HUMILITY!
God bless you!
Humility: “The quality of having a modest or low view of one’s importance”
