The Choosing of Team Members

In your different stages of life, there will be people who like you because of the way you treat them, some may love you for who you are, and some for what you do for them. On the other hand, you will encounter those who don’t like you because of the way people love you. This is called ‘everyday people’. You and I are the everyday people. Be completely honest with yourself, do you really like everyone around you? Let us be sincere here. God loves honesty. One of the things I battle with is not loving people because I genuinely love those around me, but my concern is the way in which I perceive them to be. I can say I love everyone around me, but when a certain name is called, am I free or does my Spirit feel stiff?

I have come to realise that if God was to treat me the way I treated other people, how would I be able to stand? God is so loving that regardless of what we do, He still looks beneath our flaws and mistakes and washes us afresh. There will be times in our lives where God will test you according to the way you treat people. Treating people with all honesty brings blessings, not only to you, but to those around you, even your future!. If you are someone who loves working with people, surely it would not be a problem because you have the character in maintaining a team; in comparison to those who prefer doing things independently. Doing things by yourself is not always a problem, however when it comes to projects that must be fulfilled, you will need people. I will give an example: Jesus had the Father as I would say ‘His EVERYTHING’. Jesus was able to have fellowship with the Father, as well as His Disciples also. He had 12 Disciples, and there were times that He wanted to have fellowship with them (the time where Jesus was tempted and asked His disciples to stay awake and pray; Ref: Matthew 26:36). You see, it is very good to have a team of people you can relate to because at that time, Jesus needed support the most, but the issue was that His Disciples did not pray, instead they slept because they were tired.

Have you ever been in a serious situation that all you wanted was a few people to listen to your problems? To call you when you are down? Yes, I have too, and it has not always been easy because when I was at my lowest, nobody was around. However I knew someone who was up in the Heavens watching over me, comforting me and saying that I hear your cry. God hears your cry today Queen. You are not alone in your struggle. Sometimes God will give you the opportunity to choose your friends wisely. Not everybody you laugh or go to university with is your friend. Sometimes we think we know who is for us, but this discernment comes from God Himself. If God was to give us all the discernment to know who is sincere and nasty to us, this world would be all over the place. God can only give discernment to those HE TRUSTS. If God has shown you someone who is potentially going to betray you, He does not expect you to confront them in a harsh way and pounce on them. Instead He wants you to be mature enough to go into the secret place of the Most High, kneel down at His feet and pray for that person. He also does not expect you to go around telling people about what happened. Vengeance is not ours ladies, it is simply the Lord’s.

In other words, we are all ONE BODY IN CHRIST! When one member is down, we are all down. I experienced a moment where I found it really hard to accept people back into my life. It is not that I was a mean person, but my Spirit just could not connect with it. I prayed over it, and half of me felt like accepting it, but the other half was saying no. I was so confused because it seemed like at one end God was speaking and at the other end my emotions were speaking. One thing I have come to realise is that when your emotions overshadow the voice of God, do not expect God to speak because He won’t. He is not moved by your pity, He is moved by your Obedience and Faith. It is not about how you feel in that instance, but truly about what He tells you to do. I know at times it will feel uncomfortable, but the Peace you get from obeying is something not to be missed! Apostle Paul emphasized in 1 Corinthians 1:10 “I appeal to you brothers by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ that all of you agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgement”. This scripture expresses the power of unity, because when unity is utilized to its potential, NOTHING can come in between, not even the demonic spirits in high places. Remember that your enemy the Devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking who he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). The enemy hates unity, but we must use it as warfare against it.

As the Body of Christ, we must make sure we encourage our brothers and sisters, especially when they are weak and need our assistance. You are not the only one that has problems; we all do. Being transparent in the Kingdom is something I personally learnt to do in September 2015. I found so much freedom and peace in being open to people, their needs and personal issues. This is what generates a solid team, because true teamwork comes from transparency and selflessness. It does not come from pride or thinking you are better than everyone else. Your team could consist of 3 people, that is fine. Some have 10; Jesus had 12, although He had two intimate friends; Peter and Judas, who along the lines did betray Him. It is painful, but this is the life we live in and we learn from it. Choosing your team requires the wisdom of God, for Him to give you direction on who to keep close.

Nonetheless, I have come to realise that those who hurt me are the very same people who gets me to my knees to seek God further. There is nothing as powerful as seeking the Face of God when people treat you bad. Remember it is not about them, it is about your brokenness in the eyes of God, and how He can use that brokenness to mend hearts. We all have our own signature of being broken; being broken is not a curse, nor is being alone. Sometimes your team can consist of you and God alone. It says “Greater is He that is in Me than he that is in the World” (1 John 4:4). It is much better to walk with God rather than to be of the world and walk without Him. I have experienced greater trials and triumphs as I walk with God, and more is yet to come, but in the end I know that all things will work out for my good (Romans 8:28).

Team 1

Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 reads “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken”. There is power when two people unite as one, because when one is in need, the other can supply. Having no one at all to lift you up when things go wrong is something that must be checked with God. Maybe pride is getting into the way of your breakthrough? Maybe unforgiveness is kicking at the door of your heart? What about that time you were gossiping about your friend and laughing at her situation thinking that it would not catch up with you? These are the things God hates; He does not want His children being lukewarm or taken advantage of. If two can come in agreement and make a decision together, no evil shall befall them because the decision cannot be easily broken. A problem shared is a problem half solved so the saying goes. It is important to share your problems because as iron sharpens iron, so does a friend sharpen his/her friend (Proverbs 27:17).

In Hebrews 10:24-25 it reads “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near”.  Sometimes situations occur that prevent you from meeting up with people. How can you identify your team without getting to know them on a deeper level? When I think about the people God has placed in my life today, it did not just happen overnight. I made an effort to introduce myself to them, and they also did the same. It really is reciprocal. The same with God, when you draw near to Him, He shall draw near to you (James 4:8). This is self-explanatory. We must be able to make the first move with others so that we know what they are like, their character; the same with God. God already knows us, but He is waiting for us to discover Him on a deeper level beyond the Cross. From then He will reveal your team to you. You cannot choose from a flesh-based perspective or how they treated you in the past; choosing your team members has to be authentically revealed from God. I know it can be easy to choose your team based on the way they treat you, but it is deeper than that. Being in a team is not going to be a bed of roses, there will be quarrels and disagreements. You don’t quit just because they did not choose your decision; instead you compromise and agree on one outcome. When we can praise people for who they are it is regarded as high quality so that the team will continue to make an effort for next time. It is teamwork that enables common men to do uncommon things.

In as much as I have spoken in reference to friends and teamwork, it can also be the teamwork of family. When it comes to family there too can be conflict. The story of Joseph in Genesis 37, he had two brothers that was envious of him because of the dream Joseph told them. Now it is even more painful when you share your dream with a family relative that turns against you. This is what happened to Joseph and eventually was sold into slavery in Egypt. If Joseph held a grudge against his brothers, do you think he would have been the King of Egypt? Sometimes God wants to test your heart. Are you happy for those around you, or do you harbor envy? Joseph was mature enough to ignore what his brothers did to him and forgive them for their own sake. This contributes to effective teamwork. The respect that Joseph’s brothers had for him was humbling. It takes strength to turn the other cheek but is very worth it.

Ladies, we are meant to bring out the best in people, not the worst. Everyone has flaws; you and I have made countless mistakes. Yes you may be healing from your past and the activities you got involved in that were not healthy for you; however it does not give us the right to condemn someone who was in your shoes before. Instead relate to their struggle and help them up. That is true teamwork. One of the problems in the church today is its failure to function as a team. Too frequently we have situations where a few people, often very gifted, are trying to do all or most of the work. Other times, it can be situations where we have gifts such as singing but always demands to hold the microphone. Just because you have a mic does not make you holier than someone who sings without one. This is completely contrary to Scripture and always leads to inefficiency and disunity. No matter how gifted or capable you are, the ones who think they need no one else or that they are fundamentally indispensable, are immature. No person is an island. A teamwork mentality is a vital quality of maturity.

If we are going to function as a good team member, it would be wise to examine our own lives to determine what God has called us to do as a member of His team, the Body of Christ, as well as those around us. For this we should know ourselves in reference to our gifts, talents, abilities, and burdens in that we can examine our own motives, seek input from others, and prayerfully seek Gods’ leading direction. Secondly, it would also seem wise to take inventory periodically and examine where our priorities ought to be according to the standards of the Word. Our responsibilities and priorities change to some degree through the various stages and circumstances of life. As we are aware, circumstances can change and may move us in different directions with regard to what we do as members of the Body of Christ.

Private Pain

Pain 3

Hey ladies I hope you are well? Today I will be talking about the subject ‘Private Pain’. A lot of us today are seriously struggling with hidden battles that we just smile to cover it up, for fear that people will laugh at us or even put us down. When I studied the TD Jakes book on Destiny; Stepping into Your Purpose, this is what he said:

  • Take courage and figure out who you truly are.
  • Find the courage to walk through the rubble of broken relationships when you lose friends or suffer betrayal as you climb Destiny’s ladder.
  • There is a private pain you must endure as people you loved, trusted, or admired turn against you in envy.
  • It hurts to be criticized when you are trying your best.
  • It stings deeply when you discover the insincerity of those you thought loved you; they only loved what you could do for them.
  • They just can’t stand the thought of you getting what you want out of life. But you cannot go through the Door of Destiny without passing through the Hall of Haters

As we operate in our day-to-day lives, same routine; wake up, spend time with God, eat breakfast, get ready for work, come home, eat, watch TV, rest, pray and sleep; we must also realise that in between some of our schedules our minds can start to play up. We must be aware ladies that our minds are the weakest part of our body and it is our sole responsibility to ensure that we are feeding it with positive words and thoughts. When we always try to struggle and fight our battles on our own, at times it can turn to bitterness towards others and create a negative comparative sequence that we will never amount to anything, not realizing that the person you are envious of had their own personal struggles too.

Pain 6

Your private pain is something that can push you to get to the next level. You can use your struggles and rejections to re-direct your steps into a higher calling because the pain you experienced before was just too much to handle. Whether it is coming out of your comfort zone to work in ministry, being made redundant and struggling to find another job, building up on your credit scores; all these things won’t happen overnight. It takes concentration, commitment and more importantly DISCIPLINE! I told a friend of mine a few weeks ago that I don’t believe anyone has received what they demanded in their own time; they had to push themselves to work hard so that the results will speak for them. It is not about God always answering your prayers and then you remember to thank Him; sometimes you have to thank Him even when He says no, even when your personal business is exposed, even when it feels like you are not achieving anything in life, learn to say THANK YOU GOD because you do not know what He is protecting you from. What you think is right for you, won’t always be right in the eyes of our Father.

It is so easy to thank God when all your prayers are being answered, but it does not separate us from those who praise God despite their pain. Where is your Faith gone? Should we go back to basics? “Without Faith, it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Our Faith is what enables us to get our breakthrough. Today I was studying Matthew 15:21-39 and it was based on The Faith of a Canaanite Woman. The woman was very down in spirit and was speaking to Jesus regarding her daughter who was severely oppressed by a demon. However, Jesus did not say a word to her. The disciples then came and said “Send her away for she is crying out after us”. The woman knelt down before Jesus and said “Lord, help me”. Jesus said  “(26) It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs”. She said “Yes Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table”. Then Jesus answered her “Oh woman, great is your Faith! Be it done for you as you desire”. And her daughter was healed INSTANTLY.

Pain 7

Ladies, this ain’t me speaking, this is JESUS speaking! The woman’s Faith was so strong in Christ that her daughter was healed instantly! A miraculous immediate supernatural shift that occurred. This was the woman’s personal pain and she got her breakthrough. Now I may not know what you may be going through, but what I have come to realise is that our personal pain is a contributing factor towards our Destiny. What you and I have been through is not to make us weak in the Faith or give up, but it is to help someone out there who is struggling in with life’s battles. If you have a friend that constantly feels that there is nothing life has to offer, please share your burdens with that person. There is power in sharing your personal pain with good people who you trust and can push you to the next level. Do not get me wrong, it is NOT everyone you need to tell your business to, but someone who you can confide in, someone who won’t judge but help you be the best YOU! This woman’s mind was not even focused on the disciples opinions of her, she just needed that breakthrough regarding her daughter’s state. When you come to a realization point that you don’t even care what people think about you, you are near the point of TRUE FREEDOM!

Pain 5

Our painful situations are actually a gift because without it we would not know when we needed medical attention. For example children would never learn that touching a hot stove is a bad idea. Spiritually speaking, one of the benefits of pain is expressed in James 1:2-3 where it says “Count it all joy, my brothers when you meet trials of various kinds, (3) for you know that the testing of your Faith produces steadfastness”. According to James, when we endure painful trials, we can take joy in knowing that God is at work in us to produce endurance and Christ-like character. This applies to mental, emotional and spiritual pain as well as to physical pain.

To add-on that:

  • Your pain may be mental, so what do you need to start doing to ease the pain? – Renew your mind!
  • Your pain may be emotions/feelings, so what do you need to start doing to ease the pain? – Renew your mind!
  • Your pain may be physical, so what do you need to start doing to ease the pain? – Renew your mind!

You ask how can I do that, it is very easy. You should be aware that putting your fingers on a hot stove is bad right? So your instincts will tell you not to do so. From a painful perspective, you know that getting all wrapped up in your emotions will prevent you from getting your breakthrough. What do you do? You renew your mind BY THE WORD OF GOD! Not just by His Word but also in PRAYER. You cannot wish your way out of pain, you have to show God that you trust Him 100% even when your plans are not working according to the way you wanted it. We won’t always get everything we want ladies especially at the time we want it. It takes determination, persistence and hard work!

Pain 4

One my 25th birthday a dear friend of mine bought me an amazing gift with the words on it that says:

This is so powerful!! Ladies, we all have dreams, we all have goals and we all have aspirations! We cannot afford to let our personal pain get in the way of our Destiny. There has to be consistent positive steps to reach our Destiny. It starts through the elevation of our mind. Your dreams are what enables you to further reach where you are going, but hard work and dedication has to be put into it. Whatever you desire to be, never give up on it, even when things are not working out for you. We will have good days and bad days, but even in our bad days, we can always look back and say I have learnt something important. In other words, never be ashamed of where you are now because no condition is permanent.

Pain 2

The path you travel to Destiny can create as much excitement and drama, so you need courage to keep a level head and STICK WITH YOUR STRATEGY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK BY SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T WANT YOU TO SUCCEED. Remember in all things ladies, when attacks come, remain CALM! Instead bind up the pain and keep it moving. Glance back and cry for a bit, but you don’t have a lot of time for ‘whys’. God owes you no explanation for allowing painful circumstances; God has only promised to be with us and provide comfort during those times. And ladies, may I tell you, GOD IS A REAL AND TRUE COMFORTER! He really knows how to comfort and protect His Queens. So if you have not experienced His comfort before, I suggest you ask Him. Rest in the assurance that God has got you. Even friends that laugh behind your back about your situation, learn not to question God and ask why, because your ‘why’ will be that you’ve become someone else. You’ve grown and expanded. Your thoughts, actions, needs and desires now frighten stymied people, so they try to trip you up as you rise. Don’t get distracted by them. Don’t spend time wondering “Why is she doing this to me?” or “Why haven’t I received my breakthrough yet?” Summon the courage within yourself to live the life you desire.

It takes courage to let go of limiting people, even when they hurt you and get in the way of your Destiny. You need courage to admit that not everyone is going to be for you. So you must keep it moving and let such relationships go. It’s nothing to do with them, it’s just that your Destiny is too important for you to give up on anything. When you can confidently let go of the people you thought were for you, that is when your pain starts becoming lighter. You do not want to waste time opening up to people who won’t care or lift you up. You need real authentic sisters that can cry with you when you cry, and rejoice with you when you rejoice. As I say, you will know your true friends when you are in trouble!

Moral of today’s lesson is to understand and take joy in the pain you encounter. Some are struggling more than others, but it does NOT dictate the absence of God in your storm. You will make it because you are more than conquerors! Start speaking LIFE INTO EVERY SITUATION and never stop doing so until you see change! Queens, don’t EVER limit yourself to where you are now to where you are going. Where you are now is only preparing you for where God is taking you to. Don’t give up on God and on your dreams. Don’t give in to self-pity, stress and anxiety. Learn to free your mind, spirit and soul from the attacks of the enemy. Be FREE! Your personal pain serves a high purpose.

Love you all richly!

Pray for a Godly Strategy!

Strategy 2

“The moment you accept God’s ordering, that moment your work ceases to be a task and becomes your calling. You pass from bondage to freedom, from the shadow-land life into life itself”.

(Henry Clay Trumbull)

I am sure the majority of us have great plans for the future right? If you do that is such a great start to the year! As a woman who is influential and hard-working, I always make a determination to ensure that my works speak on my behalf. I do not understand today why most women say what they want to become, and never work towards their goals. Personally, I strongly agree with the saying Actions Speak Louder Than Words’, because too much talk is procrastination. Today in our society, we list everything down that must be accomplished, to find out along the line that our inconsistencies in lack of delegation is making us start from scratch again. Honestly speaking I have been there and it isn’t always easy to get back up due to past experiences or even fear. One thing I have come to realise, especially recently in this new year that no matter what you work towards becoming. If it is not in the Lord’s Will, don’t expect an answer. A dear sister of mind wrote on her status not long ago:

“When God gives you a vision and darkness follows, wait. God will bring the vision He has given you to reality if you wait on His timing. Abram went through THIRTEEN YEARS OF SILENCE, but in those years all of his self-sufficiency was destroyed. He grew past the point of relying on his own common sense. Those years of silence were a time of discipline, not a period of God’s displeasure. Just wait upon God and be grounded in Him”.

When I tell you waiting is painful, IT IS PAINFUL!!!! I am actually lost for words by this statement! It really does speak volumes because a lot of us today have very good plans, but the real question is are we willing to wait for God to approve of them, or do we just rush the process for it to produce a fragile blessing? Most times, when I pray, I don’t usually get an answer straight away. I thought to myself why does this always happen, but I realised that God does not need to always give me reasons; all I need to do is to humble myself and allow Him to make my paths straight so that I wont break! It is easier said than done, but honestly speaking it is not easy. Some have plans to start a ministry, some are looking for jobs, different careers paths, some are planning their wedding, some are even relocating to another country! All these movements won’t always be comfortable, and not hearing what God has to say can be fearful at times.

When Abram came to himself, he realised that he did not have any other choice but to lay down his ‘intelligence’ for God to speak. There are times why now I remember God did not speak, because I was doing everything in my own sufficiency. It really wasn’t meant to be about me, but all about Him. This is why I cannot stress to you ladies enough that being GROUNDED in God is the start of a beautiful seed that is yet to be birthed, and this will take time. Some will reap faster than others, however once you ask God to make your paths straight, He will surely keep you grounded, focused and firm in Him. You must realise that when your season feels withered, it does not exclude Gods presence in your storm. He watches you every second!

I’ve also come to realise that without works, your Faith is dead! (James 2:17).  You may have a lot of “FAITH-STRATEGY” but if you don’t invest in “GODS-STRATEGY” you are preparing for failure. Faith and Works go hand in hand, but if your works are based on your own strategy, no matter how strong you are in the Faith, you won’t reap anything. For example, if you know God has called you to be a motivational speaker or leader for women, that is your works. Okay now, having Faith is believing God to bring a strong team that will follow you along the way. However, if you are not investing quality time in PRAYING, supporting or even mentoring other women, or you are not getting involved in activities such as women’s conferences and events, then you should not expect a harvest. Your Faith is strong, but your works are weak. What is your works?: It is being able to SACRIFICE your time to pray and meet up with other women and get to know them. Although your intentions are good to support women, remember that you can’t always have a one-way strategy. Your one-way strategy will not get you the results, because God doesn’t want man to give you the Glory; it is not about you in the first place. Instead you will need to show God that you are serious about this commitment and stick to it so that He will continue using His strategy rather than your own. If you work on behalf of women just to claim a title, honestly speaking please sit down. Your works won’t speak for you with that kind of mentality. Regardless of the critics, you still have to let go of your strategy and let Him take over.

Your intentions are good to help women, but your motives are wrong. Why do I say that? Because you are focusing on other women’s ministries and not your own. You are trying to be like other people and God did not create you to be like them. How can we expect God’s strategy to be revealed if we are blocking Him out? We can’t do anything by ourselves; we really need His guidance so we must know when to pack it in. We also need to position ourselves to pray and ask God to reveal His will on how He wants to use us in women’s lives. It should not be for publicity or attention, but for the edification and the Glory of God. We are living in a society where jealousy and envy does kick in, even in ministry which is quite disheartening, but it helps me to know that there are strong solutions to end this, and that is PRAYER and FOCUS!

Please do not misunderstand me here, although it is very good to have a strong reputation where people know you for doing good,  we must have at the back of our minds that we are here to serve Christ. Galatians 1:10 says “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ”. Ladies, always have it at the back of your minds to please God. He knows how to bless you in abundance; you don’t need an audience to see how blessed you are or the works you accomplish, but we must make sure what we do is for His Glory ONLY. We do not want to live a life of pleasing man. I am a strong believer in higher levels, but if I am going to a level where my ego will get the best of me then I do not want it. It says in Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth”Imagine how powerful this scripture is!! Humility will take you a long way; whether you feel blessed or not, YOU ARE BLESSED! Your humility will open doors that your own strategy won’t take you to. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has in store for you and I (1 Corinthians 2:9). As I keep stressing, you may have a plan for your life, but you must make a commitment to lay it all down at His feet because you are not here to please anybody. Unless He acknowledges your plans, it won’t happen.

In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths”. (Proverbs 3:6).

It is so easy to start making a plan instead of waiting on God to give us His plan. Sometimes we are so entrenched in our own plans that we don’t even sense the leading of the Holy Spirit. But the Proverb says to acknowledge God in ALL our ways, and that means to care about what He thinks and submit our plans to Him for approval. Having a plan is not a bad thing, but we can simply say to God each day “Lord, I have a plan/strategy for today, but I acknowledge You in it. And if you don’t approve of any part of it, then I am willing to change and do what You want”. If you truly care about what God desires, He will direct you in the way you should go if any changes need to be made according to your plans.

To add on to that, most times we will need to discipline our minds so that we can conform and submit to His ways only. It is not meant to sound like rules and regulations, however submitting is saying YES TO HIS WAYS AND NO TO OURS! Just as we need natural disciplines in our lives such as the discipline to work, the discipline concerning our appetites, our finances and so on, we also need spiritual discipline such as prayer, Bible study and confessing God’s Word out loud. As we discipline ourselves to do these things, they will become habits. Then we will see good results just as we see good results from any other discipline applied over a period of time. For example, the ladies that  attend the gym 2/3 times a week will see change, however it is highly dependent on your eating habits. So there will be areas that you need to be aware of, and some things you will have to say NO to so that in the end, good results will be our portion (I am a sweet tooth guys Lord help me).

Discipline does not produce immediate joy, but it is an investment that will pay great dividends in due time. In addition, DISCIPLINE AND STRATEGY are the ingredients that produce GODLY WISDOM because it teaches you that life is not your own, and that you must learn to commit every plan to Him. In other words, it teaches those who are wise that what they are doing now will be of great benefit in the near future. It is wise to discipline ourselves in all areas of life so that we can have a clear direction of where God wants us to be at a certain time. Remember this song “I give myself away” by William McDowell; let this be your personal prayer today. Ask Him to take your heart and your life as a pleasing sacrifice; all your dreams all your plans, place them in His hands. You don’t know your tomorrow but God does, so save yourself the hassle and surrender your strategy for His Peace.

Psalms 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old, YET I have not seen the righteous forsaken or His children begging for bread”. May you not beg for bread in Jesus Name, but come to a realization that when surrendering all to Him, He will not leave nor forsake you. His plan is greater than your own dear. Save your tears and be happy with where you are now, because He is shaping and pruning you to be THE BEST VERSION OF YOU! He is preparing you for where He is taking you in the near future. You will come to a point where you realised why your strategy did not work in the first place, and when you give God your plan, I guarantee you won’t struggle the way you used to.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope!”.

The Power of a Closing Door

Hello everyone and welcome back! Happy New Year to you all, and I really hope you enjoyed your Christmas and is having a great new year so far? Woah, for me I enjoyed New Years. So many blessings that are being birthed which I am very excited for! The link will also be on my Facebook page too 🙂

So today, I want to speak to you about ‘The Power of a Closing Door’What is so special about a closing door you may ask? Would you suggest I am talking about the physical door we open and close on a daily basis? Well, it could be used to explain a situation metaphorically. But I am talking about the things we pray for that don’t get answered, our tears we cry at night that no-one is able to understand. Our personal one-to-one time with God will surely reflect the amount of doors He will open for you an I. You can be a church-goer every Sunday, but not have Him in your heart throughout Monday to Saturday. You can keep on giving your tithes and offerings until you don’t have much left and still feel broke. The power of a closing door today speaks many volumes especially in this new season we are in. When I was weak in my Faith in 2014, I honestly thought God did not like me. I struggled so much with job applications that it frustrated me to nearly giving up.

Door 5

I still remember a time I applied for a Marketing position for Gum-tree. Spoke to a lovely lady on the phone regarding the position, and she required me to bring my passport and bank details which I did. Upon arrival, a lady informed me that they have found a suitable candidate for the position. That day I was wearing the most tightest black shoes that my toes couldn’t breathe! It was more than a two-hour journey! As soon as the lady told me, I humbly walked out, went to the train station and I could feel the heavy tears falling from my eyes. I was listening to gospel music, but to no avail, the tears started to come. Personally ladies, I don’t cry in public, but this one was just too strong. I did not even have the opportunity of introducing myself and why I applied for the role. I felt it was a two-hour wasted journey, but I know that God didn’t. He saw it as a set-up, because I strongly believe ladies, what you have been struggling with the most, will be your greatest triumph.

The funny thing about us today is that we don’t want to struggle. In other words, we don’t want to go through the process, we just want to arrive at the destination. But can I tell you something? You learn MORE in the process rather than at the arrival of the destination. My mind-set before was like “When I get the job, when I get the money, when I get the car etc I will enjoy life”, not knowing that these things do not produce happiness. Being happy is about focusing on what you DO HAVE and being content with it. There are certain things I don’t have at this moment, but it does not mean I should behave in a way that is discontent and miserable. Imagine one of your close friends that constantly complains and compares with other women who may have it all. But the question is, what is ‘having it all?’ Is it about working full-time earning £50,000 per annum? Is it travelling around the world 5 times in a year? Is it having the best make-up and hair? Don’t get me wrong ladies, these are beautiful blessings; I see them as bonuses, but are they the real tools that bring about happiness?

How about your friend who is currently struggling to find her inner-self? She keeps wallowing in low-self esteem, and you are there complaining and being bitter about not having enough money. Which one is more detrimental to the soul? Personally, I would choose low self-esteem. Some kill themselves due to this, because they have not made the effort to discover who they truly are, instead they allowed society and friends to dictate who they are. Have you ever been in this position before? Every struggle is a strength because in your weakness, it teaches you something that you would not have known. The struggle to find a job can be seen as a strength. For example, if you are constantly looking for Marketing jobs, and nothing is coming your way, shouldn’t that be a sign that you should position your search somewhere else? Somewhere that you will benefit from and grow! You do not just apply for jobs because of its title or pay. The employer does not want to recruit someone who just wants money. The employer needs an experienced and qualified candidate who proves that they are capable of handling the job.

Likewise, God will not always grant our hearts desires simply because we may not be ready, so instead of rushing, He wants to work on your inside. Lets jump back to the woman with low self-esteem. If God who is all-knowing, can see His daughter struggling with who she is, fear is gripping her, her mouth speaks negatively, she doesn’t see the best in herself, how can God bless her? This is a challenge to some of us today. When I studied Romans 12:1-21, it talks about how we should present our bodies as living sacrifices. Down along the line, we see Paul stressing about not being accustomed to this world and its habits. Most women today feel the need to imitate others, and never feeling fulfilled until they become like other celebrities. Now apply this in your own personal life my dear. Are you currently in a predicament where your mind is not at rest? Do you feel the need to dress a certain way or look a certain way for people to love you? If God takes that man away from you, will you STILL be able to stand?

Door 1

The power of a closing door is not everyone’s cup of tea. Some can endure it, but others cannot. Where I am now at this time, I can honestly say I am getting there. I am not where I used to be (praise Jesus!), but I am SO GLAD that I am getting there! It won’t be an overnight thing, some will take months, some years, but regardless, length of time has nothing to do with the importance of a closing door. Do not time destroy your blessings by counting the number of doors that close in your life. Some closed doors are blessings because I strongly believe that God will never give you a task you cannot handle. A book that TD Jakes wrote previously in the years is “Can You Stand To Be Blessed?”  A lot of people today cannot enjoy their blessings because they do not want to hurt or offend their ‘friends feelings’. I am not going to buy into that, because a GOOD FRIEND would celebrate you and be genuinely happy for you. I smile when I think about the relationship that Jonathan and David had, because Jonathan was much wealthier than David, HOWEVER Jonathan knew that David was capable to be King, so instead he HUMBLED HIMSELF and allowed David the opportunity. Now I do not know how many would humble themselves just to exalt their friend.

Despite the closed doors, the rumors, the heart aches, how many of us are still willing to see our friends be blessed? I know it won’t be easy when you have struggled more than your friend, but won’t you be glad to see your friend happy? Because I remember hearing that when God starts blessing your friends, it means He is around your neighborhood to bless you too :). For me personally, a closing door is very powerful in this new season we are in. I assume that some of you have already made new year resolutions, and some may not have been what you expected. On the other hand some may not have been answered, but that does not negate the fact that God is not present. Remember ladies, do not confuse the existence of your problems to contradict the absence of Gods presence. God will always be with you, no matter how long the door is closed.

Door 6

We will not always get everything we desire though, and it is for our good. Too much of everything isn’t good! Honestly speaking. If God was to give you everything at once, you won’t know how to handle it, because it will be too much. This is why God puts us in S-T-A-G-E-S. Most of us disregard stages with a passion, but knowing the power  of stages will enable you to reach your destiny. It may not get you there quicker, because a lot of women today just want to arrive at their destination and neglect the process. It cannot be this way. God wants us to be GROUNDED in Him (Refer to TD Jakes – Ground Level Zero via YouTube). Yes it may look like you haven’t got anything, but I tell you it is better to start with God and have nothing than to fight your way to the top without having God, because eventually you will fall. This is why I thank God for taking me the S-L-O-W R-O-A-D. Not a lot of us have the patience to go the slow-road. I remember a dear friend said to me that she told a few people about something that she planned on doing. Eventually, she realised that her plans did not prosper, so she learnt that saying things pre-maturely is dangerous. I too had to learn from that word ‘pre-mature’. We shout, jubilate and say we have this and that, but what if it does not come when you want it to? How embarrassing will it be for you? This is why it is better to allow God to close certain doors that are not relevant in your life, than to embarrass yourself and blame God for it.

Doors 3

All He wants is your heart! Are you ready to give Him your all this year 2016? Or do you want this year to be a repetition of 2015? If you keep doing the same thing, you will always have the same result. Do not expect God to change your world if your only talking to God about your blessing, and not taking any action. Faith without works is DEAD! (James 2:14-26). Remember that ladies! It is your works AND the Faith together that will move God to bless you. Yes you believe with your mouth but what is your mind saying? Are you ready to have some doors closed on you this year? Brace yourself queen, because some will happen when you least expect it. You have to be ready for the trials, tribulations and silent struggles that will come in your life. Don’t expect everything to always be rosy, because I tell you, God can easily interrupt your plans! Try not to go ahead of Him because He is ordering your steps. God always works behind the scenes!

Quote: I’m thankful for my struggle because without it, I wouldn’t have stumbled across my strength (Author: Alex Elle).

Remember there is power in a closing door; do not lose sleep over what you lost, instead thank Him for what He took out of your life 🙂
