Dear sisters, as the majority of us know, we have just found out the shocking news in Paris on the 13th November 2015. It pains my heart to see how human beings take pleasure in killing what God has created. This takes me to my message today; Be Heaven-Focused. Ladies, nobody knows tomorrow. We can do all the planning we want, but in the end it amounts to nothing. Imagine investing in a £300,000 business, only to find out that you are not alive tomorrow. We honestly have to keep praying for the protection of ourselves and our loved ones.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14 it reads: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.
God is saying that when we turn from our wicked ways, our sinful nature, our cravings of worldly possessions and power, He forgive us of our sins and will eventually heal our land. Could it be possible that due to our lack of consistency in prayer that is why all the mayhem is going on in our world? What are we Christians doing about the world today? Fasting and prayer is decreasing because we are too focused on ourselves.
The majority of the world will say “If God is kind then why is all this happening?”. Umm, please do not blame God for it is a part of the plan, to show the world that He is far more greater than any war or famine. It is an opportunity for those who do not know God to see how powerful He is. But unfortunately, some people are so ignorant of that and won’t believe everything happens for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We always want God to answer our prayers when we are in need but blame Him when wars and killings occur. God did not start this, it is the MIND OF MAN THAT DID. God is very capable to stop the wars from happening, but Matthew 24:7 it reads “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places”. Do not be ignorant of these things, because they are bound to happen. Whether you are a Christian or not, you are not exempt from the troubles of this world.
What we can be rest assured of is this “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). No matter the troubles we face, we know that God has everything under control. Jesus came so that we can enjoy life, and this is His promise to those who believe in Him. Let us not be ignorant of the devices from the enemy but take our prayer lives to another level. There is too much going on in the world today that we must not ignore. Where ever you are right now in the world, just take a quiet moment and pray to God regarding our world. The world is a good place, but it is filled with bad people, evil spirits and all sorts on tribulations. Together we can conquer the plans of the evil one and God’s enemies SHALL BE SCATTERED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Referring back to my topic, being heavenly minded is not a one day commitment, it is a consistent routine that must be adhered to on a day-to-day basis. Let us bear in mind that our tomorrow is not promised, so we must live right everyday. When we go out, when we come in, what we say to one another is vital! When something is said, whether out of love or intentions, our words will be judged. Be reminded that not everyone is on the same level as you spiritually, so we have to ensure that we pray for those that are spiritually weak, to support and encourage them to press on. Remember ladies that our rewards are in Heaven; nothing on earth can satisfy our souls, but just knowing that you are making an impact in the lives of others through your attitude and lifestyle makes God glad. Our lives should be to work for the Lord in our schools and universities, at work and also in our communities. Let us not just depend on church only, but to BE the church where ever we step our foot on.
Colossians 3:2 says “Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth”. Why did Paul say this? Because he knew that the things of the world are perishable and won’t last. He knows that the things of the world are likely to draw us away from the presence of God. Not only that, he was referring to our future home (Heaven). Let us be focused on heaven that no matter what famines and wars happen in the world, we know that Heaven is waiting for us. Being heavenly minded always inspires us to be more earthly good because what you do on earth will be recorded in Heaven. Thus, our goal as Christians must be to set our minds on things above and faithfully serve the Lord.
Sometimes God will use the foolish things of the world to confound the wise so that everyone will know that all Power is in His hands. No-one knows the truth why our world today is falling apart. It is even funny because some would say it is because we cannot see God. How can we truly be wise in our own eyes by assuming that? This is not so. In 1 Corinthians 3:18 Paul writes, “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. Paul’s readers (the Corinthians) are commanded to stop deceiving themselves with worldly wisdom. Apparently, Paul believed that it was possible for Christians to be deceived because he warns each person against falling victim to self-deception. Not only that, most Christians today believe that when we sin against God, He will condemn us and make us feel worthless, but that is not His nature. God uses the most ridiculous situations of the world to confound those who claim to be wise. Rather, one chooses to follow either “the wisdom of this world” or “the wisdom of God”. And each person must accept the consequences of the choices that are made. The wisdom of God is what we must choose daily. Do not be swept away by the cares of this world. Be expected to hear bad news, it will come, however do not lose Faith, you have a strong weapon; THE BIBLE!!
Although we are to be heavenly-minded, let us not forget to do good in the world because people are truly watching us. When ever you serve someone, whether they appreciate it or not, do not allow your flesh to make you lose your peace or your kindness. Instead keep showing them love, for God is preparing a wonderful gift for you. When you love someone, genuinely mean it. Don’t just show care to someone because you want people to see that you are a nice person. You should already have the kindness in you ready to give to others. If you are waiting for a pat on the back from the world, you are more likely to fall into the traps of the world. Remember whatever we do in the world will perish; let me show you why:
In 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 it reads “We do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is renewed day by day, (17) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”. Paul is saying that no matter what we go through we must not lose heart because the world is already perishing. Let us not be aloof to the plans of the enemy and think it all ends here, no my sisters it doesn’t. The afflictions that we face today are only for a moment.
2 Corinthians 4:8-10 says that “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body”. Remember our pain serves a high purpose. Furthermore, Paul was saying exactly what Peter told the scattered and persecuted believers he wrote to: “We endure the sufferings of this world for the sake of the Glory of heaven. Whatever we suffer in this life cannot be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18).
My sisters, I hope you have gained something from this message. Let us not be ignorant of the evil devices in the world but take our time to keep our brothers and sisters in Christ in our prayers. Keep pleading the BLOOD OF JESUS OVER YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES. Know that this world is not where you belong, your home is in Heaven, and God is waiting to receive you with open arms 🙂
