Be Addicted To Bettering Yourself

There is so much going on in the world today. The pressure of being who you others tell you to be is killing your Spirit. “I am too old, I am too young”. Why settle for their opinion when God has said to you that you are a Holy Nation? A Royal Priesthood? You are set apart to do great and mighty things. For me, I have been in positions where I have procrastinated too much, and feels like I am still where I started, but in order to be what you desire to see must start within. Your attitude…have you had a check up on that lately? Our attitude can contribute to the success or failures in our lives. In our day-to-day walk with the Lord, we must be sincere about ourselves, examine what flaws we have, and aim to make a decision to change them.

It can however be hard for some to move on simply because they don’t admit to their faults. We all want to be blameless and pure, but how can we move forward? You must always start with confessing your faults before you can get better. It does not happen over night. There will be some uncomfortable areas you will have to endure, but in the end, it will be worth it. In 2 Corinthians 10:12 it says “Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding”. In other words, those who compare themselves to others are UNWISE! Why look at someone’s live and imitate what they do, when your journey is different from their own? Focus on your lane, or else you’ll lose track.

Self-improvement is what we need constantly. This starts from our mind. We must go back to the basics. Your mind can change the way you think about yourself; both positively and negatively (if you allow it)…You have so much power over your mind, but the challenge is, are you using your mind well? What are you feeding yourself? Is it positive? Is it helping you in your Spiritual walk with God? It is a challenge but we shall get there!

Most of us have difficulty changing a habit because we continue acting as if we live in the past. Wonder if it could be your past that is holding you back? But the real question is ladies, “What is holding you back?” Most of the answers consist of fear, bitterness, hatred and pride. But do you realise that you put this on yourself? You don’t choose fear when you wake up. It is not something that any of us would dream to have. Fear is a trap towards success. How many of us really know that? Fear is a secret ingredient that contributes to a corrupt mindset. When you hear negativity, what do you choose to believe?

I remember when I was going through something very terrible; all I could do is dwell on the problem. I then heard a voice telling me to pray. If I knew then how to pray, my situation would have got better. But because I was so weak in my Spirit, my feelings took over. How many of you has had that feeling before? You want to get better, you want to heal, you want to progress, you want to enjoy every bit of your life, but your past is pulling you back. Maybe you have not forgiven yourself for the things you done, guilt can trip you if you are not careful. Why do we meditate on the things we have done towards ourselves, and not embrace the beauty that God has created us to be?

The Bible is filled with verses of change. I have often heard it said that the only easy way to deal with change is when you are the one doing the change. The truth of the matter is many times we are not in control of the change and therefore we find it hard to adjust, because REAL CHANGE comes from God. Change is real and necessary. For salvation we must change our minds, repent and agree that God’s way is better than our way. For Spiritual maturity we allow the Holy Spirit to change us as it is written: “Do not be conformed to this world: but be transformed [changed] by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2 KJV). We should not be attached to the customs and attitudes of the world, but to renew our minds through the Holy Spirit.

What ever area in your life you feel you need a change, be honest with yourself and work towards getting better. It is no good for you to wake up every morning feeling hopeless; it is vital that we get better Spiritually, Mentally, Physically, Emotionally and in particular Socially! It is good to have a positive group of people surrounded by you! The way you can improve is choosing the right team who have positive mindsets that will keep them going. The road won’t be easy, but with positivity, you are more likely to go far.

What God has promised you this year IS FOR YOU! Numbers 23:19: God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” When change is coming your way, be expectant; Gods promises are yes and Amen!! When choosing to change, it must start from within. Start speaking the words of your dreams, of who you want to become, not the words of fear and failure.

Your life is a work in progress. We can’t rush into changing our habits. Take a few steps at a time and enjoy the changing process.
