I don’t just need Faith, I need ‘Radical Faith’

Faith 2

What is FAITH?: Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. Faith is the reason we remember great people who lived in the past, in order to believe that better people will come into your future.

We all need Faith from time to time. It is vital in our daily lives. The more Faith we have, the more peace we will experience. But it is not just faith that we need, it is RADICAL FAITH that we must hunger for. Radical faith is strongly believing when all hope has gone, when you have failed several times, when it feels as if you are last in line. We all need radical faith to persevere and push on. It will hurt when you desire certain blessings and it doesn’t come when you want it, but we must realise that Gods’ timing is not our timing. Remember rejection does not mean that you are not qualified, it just means that God is protecting you for something better that He has in store.

If everyday we woke up with a smile, to acknowledge our fears and get on with our day, it will make such a big difference in our lives, and in the lives of others. When people see that we have been through a lot of struggles, and they question you, you should have the opportunity of expressing your Faith to them. People like this need to know that they are not alone. Let your peers or work colleagues around you know that they are one step away from being happy, and that is through having radical faith! It is easier said than done, but this is one of the areas that we will be tested on. We must remember that Gods ways are not our ways, nor are His thoughts our thoughts.

God will make a way where we least expect Him to! He is the God of the 0 hour and will show up whenever you need Him. I know it can be very easy to go to a best friend, or a partner, or a family member; even a work colleague. All these things are good, but it should be God that we seek all the time! Matthew 6:33 says: “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides”.

This scripture is expressing the importance of making God our first priority. Let us remember to always put Him first in all we do, and everything we desire will surely be added. Even when you see other people being blessed with what you desire, trust God and have Faith that He will give you yours. In the good times and the bad times, learn how to ignite your Faith! Remember that the enemy wants us to give up, but we will not because God is on our side, and He will make a way where there seems to be no way.

If we refer back to the book of Job, when he lost literally everything! His friends betrayed him, he felt alone, but instead he trusted in the Father, and received double for his loss. His Faith was so radical that nothing moved him. Yes he cried, but God heard it, and answered Him. It takes a lot in someone to put their whole Faith in God, and it does open doors of opportunity. Without Faith, you cannot please God. We cannot be paying our tithes and offerings in fear, thinking that we won’t get a greater return. We are not just giving to receive, but are giving to be a blessing unto God and to those around us.

God is good all the time!! I have to constantly say this! The enemy has lied to us far too long! We have been reluctant, but now its time to fight the enemy back! Whatever you desire, say it with FAITH that it is already done; in fact praise Him that He has already blessed you, even if you cannot see it! When I have job interviews, I say ‘thank you God for allowing me to receive that job’. At times I did not get it, but it still doesn’t stop me from praising Him. Why? Because He knows the right job for me. This is why the enemy wants us to look to what others have, but if we keep doing that, it will make our Faith weak and eventually you will be giving the enemy an opportunity to play with your mind. God knows the right blessings for us at the right time, because it is not how far, but HOW WELL! Faith never knows where it is being led but loves and knows the one who is leading.

I know at times the process can feel long and we all go through times that we feel so low. We tend to question ourselves: “What is wrong with me?”, “What am I doing wrong?”. But when the testimonies start flowing, we will understanding the dynamics of how God works. He loves to hear our prayers, but we need to have Faith that whatever He gives us is for our best. The parable of the five talents in Matthew 25:14-30 talks about three people that had different talents. One received FIVE, another received TWO and the third received ONE each according to his own ability. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. Also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. The one that received one talent could have extended his one, but he lost his focus. You see in life, when you lose your focus, its not a good sign of success. His focus was on the fact that the other two had more talents than himself, but should that be an issue?

When people are being blessed, should that be a problem? Why not have Faith that God will give you your own blessings? When you invest too much in things that are not of God, it can become an issue. I always tell my friends to focus on things above (heavenly things) and not beneath (earthly things). Do not get me wrong, we do need things; clothes, shoes, food, cars, jobs, etc; all these are from God, but my main point is not to forget who gave us these things. Let us have Faith that our future will be more better than our present! Faith can move your mountain, if you truly believe! I know we cannot see it, but as it says in His word, WE LIVE BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT! So we should not be afraid of the things you cannot see now, because God has got us covered! Keep your eyes on the Father and He will also keep His eyes on you! He has your back and He loves you dearly!!! You may feel alone, confused, afraid, worried, anxious, depressed, stressed, tired, unwell, lazy, weary, but God understands all these things. God will place someone in your life that you can count on! He is always there when you need a friend. Lets help one another with our Faith! Let us shame the enemy and put him to shame, and triumph in RADICAL FAITH!

I know the feeling of fear. I know it can raise its ugly head, but acknowledge it, and do what you need to do!! No matter what it is! Taking a test, going for a job interview. You may not have all the skills, but because you made an attempt, God is sure to bless you with your heart desires! Don’t ever doubt yourself! You are stronger than you think! Do not allow people to remind you before you remind yourself! Look into the mirror everyday and tell yourself “I have Radical Faith!!!”. Do not give the enemy any opportunity! Instead stand in Faith even when you are having the hardest time of your life!

Keep the Radical Faith! The most amazing things in life tend to happen at the moment you are about to give up on hope! (Anastasia Dermentzoglou).

Things that are killing your JOY!

Joy

  • What are you thinking about?
  • What is taking up most of your time in the day?
  • Why do you feel the need of gaining more, when you can use what you already have?
  • Why do we fall into complaints often?
  • Why are we usually unhappy when we see other people succeeding?
  • Is there one way to success?
  • How do you define success? (Materialistic versus Spiritual Success)
  • I am lazy and tired! All my joy is gone. There is nothing to be happy about.
  • I should be over there, and I am only here. God what is going on?
  • Everyone is steaming ahead. There must be something wrong with me
  • I think I need more money. Yeah, that will make me happy…
  • I need to find a new job. This job is really getting on my nerves!
  • I have been in the same position for 5 years and yet they have not promoted me!!
  • Why do I keep failing in my exams?

Do these questions sound familiar? I know the feeling because I am in that position right now. It can seem very difficult to accept what position we are in, particularly when we perceive ourselves to be in a better position. We seem so choked up by opinions said about us, and what other people are doing that we forget who we truly are in the process of becoming who God wants us to be. We tend to be in situations where we ask God to show us what He wants us to do, but at times, we may feel ‘stuck’ in the process of trying to get there quickly. Everything I am going through right now is a process, and it applies to you too!

There are many reasons why your joy can be stagnant. Majority of the reasons are looking at man for help instead of God. This is one of the most common problems that we face at present. In reference to the above questions, we can see what obstacles are blocking our joy. We want instant replies and quick responses of how we can get to the top, not knowing that everything we desire is to do with a process. A process is a step by step procedure of where you desire to be. It can take weeks, months or even years for God to get you to where He wants you to be, but in order to be where He wants you to be, you have to trust Him. Learn to lay aside all your pain and burdens on Him. I tell you the truth, it is not easy, but you will know the importance of leaving everything in His hands and being free!

Sorrow may last for the night, but JOY comes in the morning! When we read 2 Corinthians 10:12 it says: “Not that we have the audacity to venture to class or even to compare ourselves with some who exalt and furnish testimonials for themselves! However, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely“. In other words, comparing and contrasting yourselves with others can add to the pain you are already going through. It is indeed an unwise move. You may have waited a long time, more than your peers, but you don’t know what they are going through behind closed doors. A smile can look deceiving, but it does cover up a lot of pain. However, it is very good and healthy to smile during the painful process.

It is very easy to look at someone who has a good dress sense and automatically judge them, based on outward appearance, and to be honest, it is happening most of the time especially in today’s society. Cultural pressures are increasing rapidly, the way our bodies should look, the clothes we should be wearing etc, all these things can suck the joy out of you. Why? Because our minds are not focused on God. Your Father knows everything your heart desires, but if our minds are on materialistic things, how will you be able to hear the voice of God? We must always be reminded that our joy comes from God, not the things of the world. The things of the world are only temporal. We are not taking any of our possessions to heaven. It is just you and God. I know it’s easy to say ‘well I have got a long way to go, so let me enjoy my life’. But we must always have a conscience that God could come anytime. We should enjoy until then, of course! But even if we don’t have the blessings desired, it doesn’t mean that we should sit here miserable, and in doubt.

Everyday should be filled with joy!! Waking up is a blessing! It is a GIFT from God than no man can give! Let us learn to appreciate that, and everything will become easier to love. You have a choice to be happy. You have a choice to allow joy to come into your heart. Will you allow joy in today? When we say ‘I surrender all, it means SURRENDER ALL! Not some, not few, but ALL! Be joyful everyday! Someone desires what you have. We just don’t see it because of our motives are somewhat selfish at times. Let us not take what we have now for granted. God is using each and every one of us for His Glory. And He wants to bless us so much, more than we can imagine, but we must begin with being happy with what we have. Whether it is a small or big blessing, use to the Glory of His Name.

Let your pain be an example to others around you who are experiencing other sorts of pain to be encouraged that despite their problems, they have a God who cares, who loves, and who understands. Nothing in this world can give you joy apart from God! He sent His only Son to die for us! That could have been you or me on the cross, but Jesus took our place. That is worth being joyful about! Another thing, stop allowing the enemy to steal your joy!!! I always call Satan a dirty dog because that is what he is! When you are down, you are more inclined to bring negative thoughts in your mind, and eventually invite the enemy to twist and deceive the more. Instead, rejoice in the Lord always, and AGAIN I say REJOICE!! Instead tell yourself everyday; “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it”. Be happy with yourself and where you are. You are in a good place 🙂

Remember: There is always something you can be joyful for! Do not wait until everything you desire should fall in place before you enjoy your life! Enjoy it now! God has promised you that His plans for you are of GOOD and not of evil! Plans to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11.

The Broken Woman And Her Pains

Men do not need to touch your body in order to break you. The words and actions of man are ways of touching and breaking you. The broken woman has been touched and broken not by the physical abuse, but by the words of man. Each broken woman has a process she goes through. Some brokenness are hidden and others are seen. Often many can’t see the brokenness that lives in a woman. Just because they seem alright, to be broken inside means to be hurt. That is what God desires to deal with; your healing process must start on the inside and not the outside.

If you have noticed, God always works from the inside out, not the other way around. For what you carry on the inside is far valuable than the outside. They can break you from the outside but if what is on the inside is still strong, you will still stand strong. What we project on the outside, is what is really going on the inside of us. We work backward; everything on the inside needs to be exposed in order for you to be free. Freedom can only come when we choose to let go of the pain. When we hide things, we hide it in darkness, your pain must touch the light, and your burden must touch the light. Everything not of God must come to the light.

When man refuses the call of God, we close ourselves to the father and that is what at times we get ourselves into. We hide so many things in us. The things we carry inside of us are the things that make us and builds our foundation. It also has the power to influence us and eventually will shape our thinking. The ways of the broken woman are set by her emotions. Her emotions have been damaged by the hands and words of man. She is broken, with nowhere to run to but her pains. They give her comfort, they reassure her even though they are the things that causes her pain. She knows no other lover apart from pain and hurt. She desires not else but to be loved but she finds nowhere to escape.

Her tears, her thoughts have become his food. She whispers in the night seeking out her true love. Her world black as the night, she sees no joy. Surrounded by pains she falls, she rises but again she falls. Her eyes, her tears are filled with pain. Who will come rescue me, she thinks to herself, daily she lies with her poisonous lover, she feels no emotion toward him but yet still she lies with him. The broken woman is a piece of art created by God. She is broken but yet still she is strong! She fails to recognize the power that I her creator have placed in her. She is shattered, with no one to love her, but I love her. I call her from a distance; I whisper in her ears “I love you, you are worth it” but she does not believe me. She is my master piece and even in her brokenness, her ugliness I see the beauty I created. She is rare, finer than any diamond, she is rough but she just needs to be molded.

Clothed in rags but yet still I see the virtuous woman I created. To man the action of another determines how they should be treated but with God, it does not matter. She is finer than the rarest gem; she is hard to find because she keeps herself to herself. She is too broken to be loves some say, what will you do with her. Many can’t see what God see’s in the broken, to man to be broken means to be ugly but in the sight of God, the most beautiful image is the image of brokenness, there are so many elements to brokenness, so much you can do with it, God can reshape but not man.

Again you are God’s master piece, God likes you broken, and your brokenness tells a story. To be broken means far more to God. Even the Son of Man was broken, no man or woman of God went through the process without brokenness; we all need to be broken! We will all be rejected by man. The way the broken woman may live her life may not be in accordance with the word of God, but God still loves her. Her image has been tarnished; she seeks refuge with the pitiless animals. She has no home, no one to win her heart. She moves across the earth, like the flowing river, not knowing which direction to head to. Like the lifeless fish, she has been left empty, nothing to give. She desires freedom but does not know how to escape. Her world painted black, sorrow towards reality. She wonders am I worth loving.

How many of us will truly recognize a broken person if we see them? We only recognize them by their actions, but what of those that suffer in silence? Those that feel alone? Because she is wayward, they say she is not worth loving. Her actions scream out for help but no one is there to answer. She behaves in an unruly way just to be noticed. She is crying out for help. No one sees her pain, no one understands her. When would I be loved? The broken woman cries out for help, she is alone in her wilderness.

Tormented by beasts of her past, she faces her demons every day. She is surrounded by darkness. She wants to break the cycle but just does not know how, she is abandoned, forgotten, no place to call home. What do you want her to do? Those she trusted have ripped her apart, they have abused her innocence, taken away her pride and joy. So who will reach out and give her water? She thirsty but there is no water for her to drink. She wakes up sorrowful, in distress, with poison in her heart. She hates it because she has been so broken with no one to repair her. Those that broke her live happy, she watches them daily, they scone her daily. Where would she find her happiness? When will she be happy again, she is so broken she can’t remember the happy days of her youth, her past. What is she you ask; she is a broken woman.

Broken by the world you created for her, broken simply for being who she is. She is broken, she is dead inside. Just like the stick people walk all over her daily, she is broken daily. The desert has become her home, she is barren full of nothing, and she is broken. A word was spoken unto her that was the beginning of her brokenness. To be broken means to be barren because your body does not receive that which is not normal for it. She longs to escape but who shall be her saving Grace? She shouts in the night, but her dreams are being tormented by fear.

She fears for her life, she endures the harshest of weather, but yet still she stands. She may be broken but still she stands. She hears change is coming but her pains won’t allow her see hope. She has been blocked by her pains. She no longer has desires; they have been broken just like a tree that has not been watered for weeks. Her source of light has been taken away. She is no longer herself; she has become, what others have made her, she has lost her identity, she has forgotten who she is. She goes in search of it but can’t find it. She sits and asks herself why me, why has this path been chosen for me? She questions her ability. She has been filled with insecurities; they eat away at her just like a worm eats away the rotten apple. She is the definition of rotten, the vultures feed on her. They surround her waiting for her to come; they watch her as the predator waits on its prey. There is a prey to those who are also broken. She suffers pain; when will her pain stop?, SHE IS BROKEN, SHE IS HOPELESS.

I know the majority of us women have been through a lot in our lives; some more than others. But this message is just to encourage and remind you all that God has not forgotten about you! Your pain, your tears, your dark moments are opportunities for God to reveal Himself to you. God is gentle and kind and He will not allow anything bad to happen to you. It can be hard, especially when people misunderstand you, but you have to pick yourselves up and be clothed in the Word of God! We have to encourage our sisters in Christ! Let us keep on praying for one another! Brokenness is a way of allowing God to hear our cry. When we draw unto Him, He will also draw unto us James 4:8.

Be blessed.

How To Stop Worrying About Your Problems

I’ve always been very good at math. It was my favorite subject. The concepts came to me easily and as a result I was prompted by my math teacher to take a class that not many did called additional math. On my first homework submission, he gave me a poor grade. I confronted him because I was sure my answers were right. He told me that indeed they were but that I didn’t show my work, I didn’t reveal to him the process by which I came to the answers. I was annoyed. “It’s not fair” I said, after all I had got the right answers, wasn’t that the point. He told me that actually it was not, he explained that getting the right results doesn’t necessarily mean you understand the right process.

Once you have really learnt how to process the information properly then you will always get the right result, so in his class he focused on the process.
This is the same principle that we can apply to life. Sometimes we find ourselves going to and from looking for what we consider the right result, but we have not stopped to consider the process. Given the proliferation of false churches home and abroad; this man of god and that one promising to make your problems go away and provide the answer to your needs, it leads me to think that we have become very results oriented. As long as we get what looks like the right answer, we don’t care about the process by which it comes.

Problems in life, much like problems in math are meant to increase you; Increase your knowledge, understanding, wisdom. They make you better. God is always God. His strength is unmatched. He created the universe and everything in it, so do you think your problem is too difficult for him? Certainly not, but I have come to believe He is focused on the process. Consider the children of Israel who wandered in the wilderness for forty years. When God delivered them it was with great signs and wonders. He parted the Red Sea, sent manna from heaven and more, yet they wandered. He could have probably spirited them all to the Promised Land if He so chose, but they needed to go through the process in order to grow and transform.
Sometimes the process seems to suck. I mean I’ll be frank. It is hard work.

Sometimes you need to feel pain, sometimes even shame. It is not always easy, you may have to work and rework your approach to it, but it is necessary. When a pupa is being transformed into a butterfly, I wonder if it hurts. We have all heard the term growing pains. This life is not about having the most money, the best marriage, wonderful kids and more, those are all just perks and if that is all life is what a passive life, we might as well never leave the baby phase.

The real deal about the life we lead is transformation, becoming more who we are meant to be, so that we can actually recognize and fulfill the purpose for which we were born. Right now I am in the midst of a process; it is no fun at all. I am a crier so I have had moments when the tears fell and I remember going to God and saying “Enough, you said you won’t give me more than I can bear” and My heavenly father responded patiently, “my daughter, you have much growing to do, (so suck it up, you have the strength inside of you, besides I am with you always!)

I am always wary of the concept that you have to force your answers down from heaven, so that if you haven’t got what you want it’s because you haven’t prayed or fasted enough. By all means pray, it is imperative that we do so. I believe that it is not only about telling God what we need, but hearing from Him and connecting to Him, it’s about learning how to be still and how to walk with Him.

By all means fast. That is teaching you how to feed your spirit and not just your flesh. It is teaching you how to bring some things in your life under submission. As I write this I recognize that I have to bring some emotions under submission in my life even now. I get angry too easily and I feel hurt too often. I need to learn to stop, pray and then act, too often I do it backwards by acting, then stopping and finally praying, by then life is invariably in a big mess but thank God for God, He is always there fixing all the broken things just the same and if I haven’t learned my lesson, he gives me the same homework in a different way, so that I can understand the process.

In life we will not always get what we want and in fact bad things may happen to us. Problems like storms are sure to come. It is the natural order of things, just like the rains have to come for the land to produce life; challenges have to come in order for us to produce our best selves. So when a problem comes, yes pray, fast but also take some time for introspection. Let us ask ourselves if there is something to be learned here, something that can add to our growth. Let us not spend so much time ascribing blame to “our enemies”. I was thinking about how Christ asked us to pray for and bless our enemies and I wondered why if someone is the source of torment for us that we must still bless them. Then it hit me, Jesus is more concerned with who we are and who we become, what happens to them is of less consequence. As we pray for our enemies we become transformed and that my dears is the bottom line.

So, if you’re in the midst of a storm, stop worrying. It will pass. It always does. The question you need to ask yourself is “do you understand the process?”

stop worrying

If you don’t thank Him now, when will you thank Him?

Are you waiting for everything to go well in your life before you realise the importance of thanking God during your trial seasons? For me, I have been in sticky situations whereby I ‘waited’ for my problems to gently die down before I could really serve my Father. But the less I praised Him, the more problems arose. Have you ever been in a situation where you feel that your prayers and thanksgiving have been so powerful that no other problem or obstacle will come your way? I have…

It can be very easy to praise God depending on our circumstances, but why should we wait until things get better before we acknowledge Him? We are living in a society where pressure is constantly increasing; the way we look, what we eat, what music we should listen to, the clothes we wear, the job we should have, the finances we should be earning etc. I was talking to a friend a few days ago and was speaking on behalf of materialistic things. Realistically, we need shoes, clothes, money, food, etc. But why should we be so overly concerned with all these things? In order for you to remember to run back to your first love and serve Him, why not reflect back over your life and meditate on the good things God has done for you?

There were times in our lives when we done things that were not at all pleasing to God, yet He still forgave us. Maybe we laughed at someone who thought they could not make it in life; maybe we thought too deep into our own concerns that we did not have time to think about others; maybe we did not give God the full acknowledgement and recognition that He truly deserves…all these things we do, and yet God loves us!! So I say, if we do not thank Him now, when will you thank Him? Will you thank Him when things are getting better, or would it be beneficial if we all thank Him during the painful process? Life is a process, life is a painful process, but in the end, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Always have in mind that thanking God is a high form of respect, and that is what He truly deserves! God does not need us to ask for our permission to serve Him, that is what we are created to do! We must always have this in our minds. When we wake up, when we prepare for bed, when we study the Word, we must always thank Him in advance because when having that attitude, it allows more blessings to pour out for us that we will not have enough room to receive them. (Malachi 3:10). Let us always be on our guards to serve God in thanksgiving. I know life can be hard, really, it can be. But we must remember to always be thankful. Yes you may not have enough time to spend with God every morning, but just to say to Him “This is the day that you have made for me, I shall rejoice and be glad in it” is a form of thanksgiving. We are not only thanking God for what He has done in our past, and our present, but also our futures too! We are also thanking Him for the people God has placed in our lives, and the ones He has taken out of our lives.

Everything happens for the purpose of Gods Glory. When a door opens, thank Him; when a door closes, thank Him! Regardless of the outcome, He is working EVERYTHING OUT FOR YOUR GOOD! It may seem painful now, but we shall get there! Encourage someone today to continually thank God for all He has done! Let us not take the gift of life for granted! Because we know our God is Faithful, it can be forgetful to thank Him for life, but in all things, let us appreciate the fact that we can breathe and is healthy. Keep thanking Him in the hard moments, there is a reason behind your pain. Give thanks with a grateful heart!

thankfulness

Your Daddy Knows…

Your Father knows what you need, but put God’s work first and all these things will be yours as well. All the other things in your life; your destiny, your education, your friendships, your relationships are all from God. Some are good regardless if something negative happens because it is a blessing or lesson in disguise to help you grow. But if you trust God with all your mind, heart and soul, everything will turn out perfect for you.

God must come first in your life, even in your decisions. Ask Him ‘Lord am I doing the right thing?’ Pray during arguments and ask him to humble your soul so you can look on the high road and forgive the person that offended you. That is the next level of forgiveness. Understanding them is another. Understanding why they do or say something you do not approve of, understand why they hurt you than trying to fight back, pray for them also. Not all things need to be justified or explained – ‘Your Friends Don’t Need It, Your Enemies Won’t Believe It’.

When wanting or trying to help someone who hurt you knowingly, they are more likely to be ungrateful or even worse resentful and bitter and may hurt you again, and you have a positive mind-set that you are convinced of doing the right thing; instead you have let your emotions lead you astray when God was telling you all this time to LEAVE IT AND LET GO!

Distance and disconnection are important! In sticky situations, when you know right from wrong, you want to be the ‘hero’ but because you want to please your friends and you don’t want them to be upset with you, you are convinced enough so much that you jeopardize your happiness just to make them ‘feel good’ when you know it is not what God wants you to do. If you have a friend or close relative that treats you bad, and you want to be honest with them, but don’t want to hurt them, you have to speak to the Father. He knows your pain, He knows what you can handle. Just surrender it all to Him. Rather than complaining and whining, why not allow Him to speak to you?

In all of this, pray and ask God ‘Is this what I need right now? Is this what I should do?’. Ask Him for strength to remove yourself from those situations that give you sleepless nights and heart aches. I know it is not easy, but it will be worth it in the end so that it will please God. Ask Him to help you make the right decisions, and to do the right things, so that trust will be developed.

Remember ‘Stress’ says: “HURRY UP AND DO THINGS NOW” but ‘Faith’ says: “LEAVE IT TO GOD; EVERYTHING IN GOD’S TIMING IS PERFECT, NO MATTER WHETHER IT IS ON TIME OR NOT!”. Ask God to lead your Spirit to nothing but greater expansion on wisdom, knowledge, understanding and the truth. Ask God for a sound mind to always hear when He is speaking to you, also for your heart to be humble and receptive even though you want to do the opposite and what suits you.

Proverbs 3 v 5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths”. Do not lean on your own understanding. Everything else is second place. When you put God first, everything else will come into focus; it may hurt now or may not make sense, but in the future it will. Think futuristically, not temporarily and momentarily. Chances are whatever we do now pops up sometime in our lives and will eventually reflect towards your future. But with God’s help, everything will surely be fine. So keep the Faith, trust in God and DENY YOURSELF in order to focus on Him alone.

What is your Purpose in life?

What is your purpose in life? One might ask. Your purpose begins with God. In Isaiah 41 verse 10 it says: “Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice”. Honestly speaking, some of us do not know our purpose. We look around allowing our situations and current circumstances to define what our purpose is. Your situations should not tell you what your purpose is, you should! Eventually, fear starts kicking in. As you continue to grow older, you will get to a certain age and stage in life where you are likely to question yourself and your life. Thinking questions of where you should be, or where you should have been etc.

As a daily reminder, always know that God is the source and origin of your destiny. But before your destiny comes into the spotlight, you must have a purpose behind it all. If your gift is encouragement, are you starting from within yourself? Do you encourage yourself first? It is very unlikely that you will be able to encourage someone else if you do not know how to encourage yourself initially. Your defining moments in life are always available if you believe. You can choose to be happy or sad. The choice is yours. You can define your life by just a thought! There is power in a thought, whether positive or negative.

If you are at work, full-time, it is vital that you have a purpose when working. Some would say that they work for the money. Yes that is true. However, others would say that they want to develop their skill set. Although we all need money, isn’t there better things that you can do at work asides thinking about how much you are going to earn? Your purpose should not be to just make money and be rich. Your purpose can be to invest towards the poor countries that lack good food and water, shelter and education. I strongly believe that if one invests in these things, rather than materialistic things, they are more likely to live a purposeful life. We must search for several opportunities when given the chance. Do not allow any opportunity to pass you by!

An acronym that really got me thinking is the P-O-O-R factor:

  • P – Passing
  • O – Over

  • O – Opportunities

  • R – Repeatedly

The truth of the matter is that often at times, we fail to realise the amount of opportunities that God allows us to have, but because we try to fit God into the schedule that we want Him to abide by, we miss these opportunities and start beating ourselves up. You cannot expect a blessing if you are not open to any opportunity that comes your way. This has to do with purpose, as I mentioned previously. Every opportunity must have a purpose behind it. God is interested in an opened-mind. He desires to know what you are thinking about, what plans you have for the future, and how it fits altogether with your purpose. People who are always expectant cannot miss their opportunity. Why is that? Because they have high expectations that something good is going to happen to them. And they are the ones that are more likely to gain the blessings. They believe in their expectations because they know their purpose.

There will be different seasons in your life for training and growth. Your purpose should be your vehicle to your destiny. However the way you can achieve this is by knowing who you are in Christ. This is where your identity comes in. Do you know who you are? Identity begins with God. Eventually, purpose will add value to your life. Philippians 3 verses 12-14 says: “(12) Not that I have now attained or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own, (13) I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. (This is Paul speaking).

So Paul’s purpose was to win souls for Christ, and to leave the things in his past behind. Are you carrying any baggage on you that is pulling you away from your purpose? It is believed that ‘EXCUSES’ are some of the barriers to success. You better believe it. Procrastination and excuses are the wonder twins to lack of purpose. If you keep making excuses on every opportunity, you may not get far at all. Procrastination itself is also a thief of time, because it robs you of the things you plan to do in the day. Not only that, you may say, ‘oh I’ll do that tomorrow’. When tomorrow comes, it’s another excuse upon another. Do not make up excuses against your life because the greatest motivation is the pursuit of your destiny. Take every day as it comes and make a difference!

Your purpose is putting value into what you are doing. When you have the right motivation and the right direction, you will fulfill your destiny and your purpose. So I ask you today, what is your purpose, and how is it leading you to your destiny?
