DAMIWRITES

For Damilare Babalola…

I woke up empty today. Engulfed by my desires and seemingly insurmountable needs I have somehow lost sight of what it means to be alive. My struggle is endless. Each day drags me relentlessly to the house of my tormentor. With his steely gaze on my back he begins to flog me without flinching or remorse. But there is hope… Soon I will leave this job. Soon I will build my house. Soon I will become a source of joy and no longer the harbinger of sadness. Soon … because this morning I will touch the hem of His robe. I will place my withering fingers on the fringes of his shawl and I know I will be made whole.

“And his disciples said unto him (brusquely, almost with sarcasm), thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?” – Mark 5:31

Emotions: How to control them!

Emotions…good or bad, we have emotions.

An Emotion is a strong feeling deriving from one’s circumstances, moods, or relationships with others. As individuals, we all have emotions. When someone we love hurts us, it can get to us. Some people take emotions lightly, some don’t. It can be hard knowing that you have an emotional weakness, but God knows how to take care of it. In this circle of life, people you love will hurt you to some extent, you may hurt others, but do not allow your emotions to control you!

Joyce Meyer Says: “We all have emotions, and they’re here to stay. I believe one of the main goals of every believer should be emotional stability. We should seek God to learn how to manage our emotions and not allow them to manage us. An excerpt from the definition I found in the dictionary states that emotions are “to excite and to move out.” Think about this: You’re out shopping for a specific item you’re in need of. You’ve made a commitment to the Lord to get out of debt. You’ve promised Him to tithe and give offerings as He directs. You’ve agreed to really watch your spending and not purchase things you don’t need. But while shopping, you discover that the stores are having a big sale of 50 percent off the already marked down merchandise. What do you do? You get excited. The more you look around, the more excited you get. Emotions are rising higher and higher. They begin to move out, and part of the devil’s plan is for you to follow your emotions.”

God knows each and every emotion you have because He made you! It says in 1 Corinthians 10 v 13 that: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is Faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, He will also provide a way of escape that you may be ABLE to endure it.”

Sorrow may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning! Ladies, be encouraged that what you are going through is shaping you to be what God has made you to be! Through your emotions, feelings and even weaknesses, it is making you turn to God for help! When you decide to make God first in your life, you are making a decision to let go of all the pain you have been through in the past, or is still going through currently, and letting God take control of the situation.

We all have different trials in different seasons, but God always remains the same! He will never change! This is why we must always make time for God every morning, as He wakes us up! We do not need Faith to wake up because we believe that we already have life as Children of God! Whenever you feel lonely or isolated, just know that God is closer than you think! Do not start having a pity-party or call someone to fill the space, that’s Gods job!
